Inlet manifold for 8v Golf turbo conversion

Anyone got an inlet manifold lying around? A mate of mine is doing a turbo conversion on his Mk2 and he's asked me if I can source one.

    Cheers

I think for an 8V engine, you want an older 10V Audi 100/200 turbo inlet manifold to modify, not a 20V ABY, 3B, etc. inlet manifold.

do you want a mani of a 5cyl turbo or foes he just need a mani from a injection 8v?

iv seen plenty of 8v turbos on internet using the standard injection mani, i think the g60 hd a intake pretty much same as the n/a motor. just my 2p worth i font have a spare mani though

For an 8v going turbo, I think you want to start with a 10v I5 turbo 200 manifold. (IMO). Better air flow.

audi 5000 is best option bigger runners.
the next best were the power engineering bigger volume inlets where they had been cut open and extended for volume.
                    G60 next.
needs to be an 2v manifold so AAN,ABY,3b no good.

with the 8v the cam cause the restriction not the inlet firstly.

A g60 is about the best place to start for a manifold in fact engine. although personally i think the best place to start is Ebay looking for a 16v motor to swap in.

a T3 super 60 or at a massive push (well hitting the firewall with a hammer) a 50 tri9m t04e. are the turbo's of choice. 350hp at max with loads of lag.

Personally I'd go for an 2.0 ltr ABF converstion or drop in the 1.8T 20v lump

The ultimate Golf MK2 I have seen is a turbo R32 engined car http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5p2bjl...eature=related

abf turbo is a great lump jamo. i went with a 9a when i did it.

the idea we are trying to get across is not that an 8v is a bad engine but a VW 8v is not a good one to turbo successfully. VW tried it in a scirrocco and had heat problems so went with the valve to stick it to ford and fiat.

take a 16v be it KR, PL, 9a, 6a in 220mm height or an abf in 236mm height. the biggest advantage to the ABF is managment over the other variants. with a turbo and a digi-1 chip from SNS or standalone they are much of a muchness up to 500whp.

specail attention need sto be paid to the gearbox. the 020 will struggle with a turbo 8v or 16v. the 02a is good for 300hp or so but fit a quaife diff at 250hp if you want to get anywhere.

after that a 6 speed conversino can be done with an o2m, transporter inner CVs (108mm). these fit the 02a G60 shjaft splines so you can use G60 hubs and outers and shafts with a 02m.

let me know if you need any of that stuff. i got a full kit here. cupra r box, shifter, shafts for 02m inner cv's and G60 spare shafts for 02a.

It might be a 16v.. you know what I didn't ask, I just assumed. I will ask, but the conversion is nothing to do with me, it's just a guy I went to school with who knows I've got an S2 and asked me what bits I had spare. He said he wanted an inlet manifold so I thought I'd ask.
