Nice spec.....if only I could find those recaros on an old shape Allroad 2.5tdi diesel with Bose, tinted b pilllar back glass, xenons, manual gearbox and sat nav
Thats just my point - back in the good ol days, when rich folk could get into serious amounts of debt when 'buying' new cars they would happily tick all the boxes for options. Our AR has all the options you mention (xept for SatNav which is for girls who can't read maps / have no idea where they are) plus load covers, dog rack, detachable towbar, sunblinds and the heavy duty offroad alloys. We got LOADS of car for ~14k which someone must have paid well upwards of 40k new... Ours is now worth about 6k though after about 3yrs of running which is depressing enough, plus all the suspension and timing belt work I did. Still - damn fine car though.
The only main niggle I have with the lovely heated Recaros is you don't get the memory function - well you didn't in 2001 anyway.
The tailgate has an almighty squeak which I must fix - thats the only real thing I can complain about the AR... Ours gets a weekly thrash down a bumpy farm lane and it soaks up the terrain really well - versus the 5mph crawl I have to do in the S2 on the same lane so as not to leave me gearbox on the road !
