  • Wanted : A6 C4 Quattro 140 Tdi Avant

I now need a replacement estate after I rolled my S2 Avant at Fintray last year I don't want to give up the Coupe Quattro, so I'm looking for an A6 C4 Quattro 140 Tdi Avant (1995-1997 vintage - mothership sized, diesel and 5 pot) before I need to lose the CQ and get a C5 variant instead...

    So,

Colour doesn't matter as long as bodywork is very clean
Climate control would be nice - but not essential
Leather preferable - but not essential
A solid service history is essential - either garage or enthusiast maintained
Mileage - preferably no more than 160kmls - but each one on it's own merits.

I don't doubt that this may be like seeking out the Holy Grail, but it's worth a try.

I also doubt that I'll find one suitable north of the border (I'm based in Glasgow). I've seen one already this week (on autotrader) and the bodywork was poor...but UK wide travel is not a problem.

So if anyone knows of one for sale or someone who might be thinking of selling theirs - please give me a shout by post or by pm.

    Cash waiting

    thanks
    Raymond

    Good luck finding that unicorn!

the quattro ones are rarer than rare, there was one on ebay the other week, but it dissapeared with 6 days left. all the non quattros only come up for saled when they reach starship miles! I guess that shows how good they really are, that folks dont want to part with them!

I had toyed with the idea of putting the 5cyl derv engine in my tdi 80, but even the engines are hard to find!!!
Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris.

yeah... I'm not holding out much hope, but I can only try. The one I saw earlier in the week had spent too much time near the coast up in the north of Scotland I don't mind the mechanical bits, but for a daily driver the bodywork needs to be good.

I do have a 5 pot diesel bottom end in the garage though, but thats going to get the 20v head sat next to it

That is a nice looking A6AR - looks like a younger version of ours but with manual tranny and without the Recaros - still though - looks like a mighty wagon... Must surely be of interest to others in the market for a family sized bus.

Admittedly the physical looks of A6AR aren't to everyone's taste but its a LOT of car.

... I'll give it a month or so and then I'll stop searching for a C4 and open it up to C5's and AR, that'll make it a lot easier.

Sure even John managed to get a good.. erm a great C5 cheap Recaro interior indeed!

It was a shame about the S2, but I'd never ever have sold it. There's a little tinge of sadness when I see some of the bits on the 'bay now - sure even the missus said she missed it the other night - but I'm sure thats due to the fact that she's been seen occasionally in the CQ

At least it was a quick end, I got good money for it even in it's rolled state and it ended its days with me... no regrets
