There's an 040 pump in my car, if I end up breaking it then it'll be for sale

    You don't need the 044 until you're at 500hp+
    1994 Audi S2 Avant - in pieces
2006 Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi - goes fast
    1985 Audi 90 quattro - is wet

depending on what you wanna push sonic will depend on if you need one. im still on the standard S2 pump its good for 350 or so its the top end where it starts to struggle.

Think he's going for around the 400 bhp mark, top end rs2 i'd have thought (probably dialled down slightly to save the rods for the time being)

itll be on the limit then.

i can see my fueling dropping off slightly on the standard pump at around 6k. for more boost or more revs im fitting a pump. having said that my turbo is providing a fair bit more air up there. my 650cc injhectors go full duty. im doing around 400hp maybe a tad more at 1.35bar.

i think itll do it but with little margin. better to be safe as im sure thats what your aiming at.

should be a good fast road car that one.

i got a holley FI inline pump from summit racing a couple of years ago. never used it so gonna try that.

RS2 spec just relay the standard pump so it sees a constant 14v

                thats another option. good idea.

maybe a better pump will help keep the duty cycle down better though.

all this is not an issue if you have the standard rods. they will go before the pump runs out. id expect around 4krpm mark

smaller turbos and high torque spikes in the midrange for you. the turbo on an old impreza 95-96 is a tad smaller than rs2 maybe 30hp tops. the mid range rips third out when the boost is wound up.

Something is definitely off if you are maxing out 650cc injectors with only 400hp worth of airflow. They flow enough for 400hp at the wheels on E85. Check your fuel pressure at high rpm, I suspect that it drops like a rock. Make sure that you don't detonate with that lean AFR and make bananas out of your conrods.
Rule of thumb on a 20vT is that the injectors support the same amount of hp as they flow in cc, so 650hp on 650cc injectors (assuming petrol, not ethanol). Upping the fuel pressure will increase capacity, 650cc's on 5bar pressure will support approx 720hp.

Good write up ..In the case of a S2 were the battery in mine is under the bonnet I would look at sourcing the wires at the fuse box and feed under the steering wheel on the relay plate and just add one there and hook up the live feed from the battery to the ignition to the relay?...sound about right

Audiman, Doug_RS2 & Mark Halligan started doing it back in the bhp power war days. A few threads on it on here.

i have relayed the original RS2 fuel pump to direct 13´8v .it was very easy ,just need the relay and the wires under the rear seat and all it´s very close to the original ful pump location..
