i run scats. got them from paul at the boostfactory in the states. they do pauter and some others now too.

around the 200 quid mark for a set from him. more now with the crappy pound

Just emailed to ask the price of Scats as they don't list them on the website. They do list some called "Brute". Not sure about the sound of those.

i think the brute rods were built to their own level of standard. i believe they are better than scats, stronger better made but cost more. Paul (killa) runs pauters IIRC. more money again.

Nice site that, the Pauters are quite pricey at 2x the price of the 'Brutes'

Interesting to see the price of pistons there too...

ive had turbo,tial gate, injectors, etc etc from paul in the past.

what paul doesn't know about turbos and 4v vag isn't worth knowing.

i got wisecos from paul for the 16vt and scats.

paul has made 530 odd whp from a 16v. he made 430 odd whp from a standard 16v engine IIRC

Careful with the cheap rods, The SPM group buy found out that many rod sets wher not balanced and some of the guys cars have serious vibrations.

i run scats. they were balanced by my machine shop. scats have been know to be well balanced anyway usually.

IIRC when i last spoke to paul the new rods were of higher than scat quality for higher hp builds.

Ask Bassett Downs Balancing or Aelred if they agree with that statement

You get what you pay for with Rods. Scat are a good budget rod but not top quality which is what Pauters and Carillo are.

From what I see all these rods are the same, just different engraving from the supplier making them as they were manufactured by them.
Phil at BDB will tell you the same.

I'm not saying Scats aren't any good to all you Scat owners, just they aren't in the same quality league as Pauters.
