    WANTED: 2 X RS2 main bearings

    Hi all,

I need 2 journal sets of main bearings (of the 6 needed for one engine, I have 4...) Trouble is, Audi do not provide the same bearings they used to - different manufacturer or who knows...

I have 4 "old style" RS2 bearings, and need 2 more... does anybody know of any odds lying about or spare ones which were not used for any reason?

    Thanks,

    Chris

As you can see from below, there is a big difference between what Audi used to supply as RS2 bearings, compared with what they supply now...
first pic is the old RS2 style on the left, new style on the right
second pic shows one complete journal set with the RS2 (old) on the left
finally a rear pic showing how much smaller the oil way is and how it is badly finished and discoloured....

Actually the 1st set are 3B / standard 10v 20v bearings and are not hardened the 2nd pic is the correct RS2 bearings

    RS2 ones were never 360

    See here normal 10v / 20v http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=611

    RS2 http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=430

Or you can buy the Glyco bearings which are the same as the RS2 from Aelred

If it's been blueprinted, it'll have new bearings, thats part of the job. Who are you planning to get to do that? Not many people can do a true blueprint job.

Hmmm, that's interesting.... in the second pic, the set on the left were sold as RS2 bearings, as were the set on the right of the same pic....

Am I right in understanding then that the left hand set of the 2nd pic are actually the 3B "soft" version?

In which case I need 4 sets of the harder ones....

          Very confusing this......

I'd guess one set is Audi the other set Glyco bearings don't ask me which one is which.

Just order the Glyco set from Aelred, I did and they are in a sealed packaged, no scuffs and work well.

              Hi Jamo,

I agree, a full set from Aelred would be perfect, but, I already have a set of 6 bearings... 4 of one sort, 2 of the other - all from an Audi main dealer and sold as "RS2 bearings"

I was hoping to buy just the correct RS2 ones required to make my set complete, as it would more likely be cheaper than a whole new set - also meaning less "left-overs", which would be a good thing...

I xan see some "ornaments" being made out of this spare set...
