After having a bit of a nightmare changing the stalks over to suit my new steering wheel I now have to use the original ones which I had dismantled and altered (wrongly !)
I need a complete setup for a S2 that does the computer controls on the washer stalk.
I have the trip computer stalk spare but not the other one, the other one can be from any b3/b4 car that has the same style stalks (early b3 have square styled ones)
Thanks mate, typically it is the light stalk I mainly need as I broke one of the parts when trying to work out which bit needed changing to make the indicators cancel.
As it turns out the unit themselves are 2 different sizes around the column so the earlier (stock 80 stalks) will not work on my car, this would explain why the white lug doesn't reach far enough into the colmun to cancel the indicators.
I have glued the broken piece back together and typically its held very well but before that I modified the stalk casing and it probably won't fit back inside it now so ideally I need a new unit, the lights won't work as both units have different areas of contacts to make the lights and indicators work.
A normal (none S2 avant) has a different casing, the internals are different although as you say interchangable, the problem comes when you try and fit the unit over the column, although the 2 units split in half the connections are spaced differently, highly annoying as its VERY close to working but not quite close enough
