Injectors 200, Generic RS2 map £250, Wagner EVO IC ( Better than RS2 and don't need Xmbember ) 490 euros

Trust me when I say the hard part has been done on the car and doing the rest will be easy.

You will spend more doing it too a different car as the exhaust, brakes, alloys etc cost are worth a good 2k by themselves

RS2 Turbo and EM touching 1k

Hi Dest, Interesting... What would the wheels be worth plus wheels that will fit over the Porsche brake conversion??

They seem to average 4-500, maybe a bit more on a good day.
Any 18s will fit over the brakes.
That could give you a couple of hundred quid in your hand, which would cover the injectors and part of the remap.
Then you just need to fund the IC.

Starting with a standard car and taking it to RS2 spec is just illogical when there is one for sale that has the most expensive bits already done!
Yes, the car might cost you more initially, but in the long run it would save you a fair bit.
Plus, and this is one of the most important factors when buying an S2, you are buying one that is known to of been looked after very well, and is not a potential money pit where you end up spending all of your RS2 fund on just getting running right as standard in the first place!! (Ive been there and done that.... )

Plus it helps the history of the car is on the forum and the member DarrenM who did all the original modifications is available to help answer any query you have.

              How often does that happen?

                My 1st S2:
Totally standard, cost me more than I paid for it to turn it into a good one. Bought from non forum member.

                Current S2:
All the good mods done, all the little problems/fixes/upgrades done by knowledgeable forum member.

                1st one: Nightmare.
2nd one: Running like a dream.

there are other options. you can get rs2 power and more for less than rs2 parts. all depends on what route you take. the bolt on /factory look wins on the rs2 but bang for buck its way down the list.

Hi Gaz. I've seen threads about your S2 Cab - a credit to you! I'm in Sth Manchester so not far away...

What are the other options than RS2 bits for c. 350bhp with similar reliability and driveability, but less 'bucks'?

Yeah Steve, better value in terms it's full RS2 spec and remapped but the bodywork on the green S2 is superior

For you go for Steve's car and you can sort the body work out when you want

I am going to be perfectly blunt here, but if you trying to save £200 here and there, you are in the wrong game. These cars average £500 - £1000 a year to run, I don't care what anyone says that is what they cost. They are not cheap at all.

IMO you need a slush fund of £500 at the very least to run one.

Take a look at the number of people (myself included) who are struggling to run one even as a second car! (Which allows you to wait around for replacement parts and hunt out bargains, and do the work yourself while the car is off the road). Paying for a garage to fit new parts if it is your only car cost's £'000's.

However, the advice above is good, find a car with the spec you want and buy that one, don't modify if you don't have to.

I hate to sayit, but it may be more economical to wait and save up for what you want. Not the answer you want I know.

                          Cheers,

                          Steve.

mines not a cab its a coupe.

im in oldham. not too far. i can always pop down and you can take a look at mine. ill point out what you dont want to see on your new aquisition.

for me and this is all opinion rs2 parts cost lots. in general they are second hand and some liek turbos and manifolds are cracked. i paid 399 uk for my turbo brand new 12 month warranty. i paid around 300 for my exhaust manifold and a fair bit more for a 3" exhaust. bolted to a standard aby with vems it made 325hp at 5krpm. it needed bigger injectors. those fitted and we are near 400hp. add the fuel pumps ive got ready and i should see mid 500's

the biggest thing to factor in i think is con rods. they need changing really to push even an RS2 turbo towards the limit. if you are not mechanical this will be a fair cost in labour.

as always the heart will lead you to the car of choice.

...then you need to buy the green one as it already knows it's way round Manchester as it spent 4 years in Urmston before starting on the S2Forum merry-go-round.

I bought it with just 58k on the clock - proper mint it was too! Kept it totally standard except a homefry chip towards the end of ownership. Ended up selling it to a guy who lives less then 1/4 mile from my parents in Wakefield...always had a sly look at it when visiting. It still haunts me to this day, 'cos it was the worst decision I ever made selling it... still miss it.

Here it is not long after I bought it...

Still debating on whether to sell to be honest. The bodywork is decent condition to be honest (although not mint by any means) but the green one does look mint. Got a new drivers side arch now so hopefully get that fitted and will help but still bit of rust on passenger door.
As have been said though, the cost to buy an S2 then get it to RS2 spec will go way beyond that of just buying a rs2 spec coupe to start with. It seems as though DarrenM's old car has a good history throughout the forum and looks a good price
3'' Longlife Exhaust, Koni Adjustables, H&R Springs, Full RS2 Setup with Mr Nugents RS2 Chips (just need the RS2 Airbox)
