Decent used ones can be a nightmare to get hold of Greg - FYI if you get desperate you can splice a front sensor onto the longer rear wiring of a faulty sensor, i have done this before

Yeah I did wonder that, i may have found a solution. I just need confirmation if someone can check the sizes.

The Audi A4 ABS sensor has similar P/N and the actual sensor looks similar and are available for £20-£40 new.

      P/N is 8D0 927 803 with end digit of A,C or E

Could anyone confirm the sensor is the same?

I got the sensor sorted today. I decided to go a bit more of an conventional route. My mum has an A4 R reg which is off to the scrappy soon. Having done some checking around on P/N's it looked like the A4 upto at least 2004 uses a similar ABS sensor. Albeit with different grommet locations and overall length.

Anyway I took the two rears off of the A4 and the first two grommets are not far off the S2 locations so I removed the rubber seal from the S2 one and fitted it to the A4 sensor then using a stanley blade removed the sheath and soldered the 2 wires from the A4 sensor to the cable of the S2 sensor. Then cover each cable and the sheath with heatshrink. When I checked the resistance of the S2 and A4 sensors they were near identical, the readings were 1k to 1.1k ohms.

            ABS problem fixed for free
