ADU ecu wont be any use to Nic as his car is stock ish..

Nic you could always take your ECU can chips to that place near where you live and they can fit them for you..

The guy who is going to replace my chips is no mechanic. He is electrican who used to be manager of the 'soldering dept' at his old company, ie he knows how to solder anything. So I need to get he ECU to him and open it up so all he has to do is replace the chips. He has all the kit etc and trust his ability.... Then I will get the car Dyno tested etc.

To others on here...am i making a mistake cutting costs like this or is the viable?

I think buying another ECU is not necessary, why not just give him your ECU and the chips and get him to solder in some rails and fit the chips for you, or just solder the new chips to the boards, Just make sure that he doesn't mix up the fuel and boost chips when he fits them or it woant start.

There is a guide on here on how to open an ECU, its easy but can be fiddly if you haven't done it before.

                    Cheers.

The problem is i need my car and he will need my ecu for a day or 2. Do the standard chips have a small circles at one end to indicate which way they should be fitted?

                      Have found the guide. Thanks.

Chips if like Vauxhall Moronic Ecu's do indeed have a cut out in one end.

I would assume the ecu opens up then splits in 2, one side doing igntion and the other boost. Thats how the Moronic C20LET ecu's are, fiddly but if your patient not that hard to open up.
