WANTED: 6-spd gearbox central / cage (or what it is called..) PIC INSIDE!!
WANTED: 6-spd gearbox central / cage (or what it is called..) PIC INSIDE!!
Hi!
Im looking for a gearbox central / cage / mounting plate from a 6-spd, What I need is the mounting plate that is bolted on from underneath the car and the gear stick.. I've got an RS2 knob and all the linkage/gearbox mounts/gearbox and so on!
Hehe, I feel like a retard trying to explain in words what I'm after <: a picture, as you say, might do the trick? the parts I've circled are the parts of interest!
Hope you understand me now <; my english might be worse than I previously thought <;

EDIT: I dont need the leather gearbox pouch/knob.. and not the linkage either.. just the parts in between there <; the.. shift mechanism? at least ETKA calls it that
hehe! ok well AFAIK except parts 34 and 4 (the ball and the ball socket) are all the same as 5speed cars so might be easier to get hold of than 6spd
The ball socket wears out as it has a rubber flexi bit on it so i would just buy a new one if i was you - I have two 6spd ones at home but both are not in good condition --> rubber is split and broken.. IIRC its about £40 new

I've got all that from a 5-spd car.. but I was told that there were differences between them.. dont you need to change this along with everything else when going from a 5-spd to a 6-spd gearbox? or can I just buy the two parts you mentioned? to be able to fit it?
I thought it had something to do with where the (R) reverse gear is located on the 5-spd versus the 6-spd gearbox? and the "anti-engage" / lock so that you dont put it in reverse by accident?
Any insight on this?
EDIT: and also.. what is the blasted thing CALLED in proper english? <: so I know what key words to search by? <<;
From what I can see in ETKA.. the differences are that all the parts on the 5-spd as in 1991-1992 coupe shift mechanism have a P/N that starts with a 893 or 8D0 and ends with a B while all the 6-spd parts as in coupe/avant/sedan 93-96 has a p/n that starts with 8A0 and lacks the "B" in the end.. but the numbers are the same..
Can anyone confirm which parts that actually differs between these? or sell me everything from a 6-spd (then I could check the differences and post a write-up, unless there already is one that I cant find)
yeah i remember commparing the two when i 5spd had my shifter in bits - the only differences as far as i coould tell are on the ball and socket which are different on the 6spd (reverse lock-out) - on the 6spd there is a prong on the ball and a tab on the ball socket that stops it going into reverse without pushing it down. On the 6spd socket there is also a rubber flexi section that allows you to push the knob down to engage reverse. As far as i could tell these are the only parts that are different
I can take some pics later

please do! then I can compare to the parts that I have.. I'll try to get them from the garage later today!
I checked out my shift mechanism (haha, almost wrote '**** mechanism', hahha) at the garage today - I have the 5-spd p/n all through the shift mechanism >: what have you got for me?
