    Accelerator pedal

The plastic pedal has just broken away from the main accelerator arm.

Can I replace just the pedal or is it all one unit?

Anyone got 2nd hand of either?

    Many thanks

    Nic

It must be catching, i was hoovering my carpets last weekend and mine broke off If you buy a second hand one the same might happen straight away. I havent price a new one up yet but think i'll be buying a new one. I've changed a complete pedal before and its not that hard. There is one on ebay at the moment!

They do fail easily due to the feeble plastic hinge - I'm on my 3rd

You can still drive with the plastic bit missing - feels strange but can be done.

There's posts on here about how folks have either glued or tie-wraped them to repair.

New ones from the Stealers aren't that expensive IIRC.

They are very easy to replace once you've removed the drivers side undertray.

The whole pedal comes as one unit.

All Audi 80s, 90s are the same - well perhaps a bit sweeping but there's plenty of secondhand ones around at your local scappies as they aren't a S2 specific part.

My dad put a short self tapper through his when it snapped, doesn't pivot anymore, however works just fine when pressed against the carpet I would imagine you could fit a simple metal hinge/pivot if you can be bothered.

My mums one lasted about 15 years, I start driving the car and it immediately snaps

Should be able to pick one up cheap anyway.

I've cable tied mine to stop it flapping (it's not broken), means you can heel and toe better. I can tell when the cable tie pops off, it feels all mushy under foot. Crap design IMO.

Gee how often can i say this two cable ties a drill bit and drill two holes through the pedal and the sides of the plastic flap in your hand pull the cables ties through tight and hey bingo the pedal works as O.E.M. you can just about see a slight bit of cable tie..
I have done this to six cars now and not a single failure.

Contact adhesive repaired mine (no more nails to be exact). Tie wrapped it until the glue was set, good as new - except no pivot action. Its been sound for two years now.
