i use the S2 forum because i have an S2. i chat with peeps who have S2. not sure of any with stock S2 though. things get old, times change

the factory bits are old hat in general.i wouldn't ever build a 16vt from an S2. i spent many months working on 16vt setup. my reasons

    poor manifold flow.
    poor turbo.
cant see poiont in using old audi gate and at that power level the external gate is added burden.
no need to use S2 pistons.

in a nutshell the 9a/6a/kr/pl/abf are all very good engines and need only moderately priced bits to get good from a mechanical side. the big costs come in exhaust, box, clutch, axles, management etc.

im not in everything for a gain or i too could have offered a turbo. im offering advice against using the k24 for good reason.. if we are talking FWD VW.

Cheers for the usefull info mate, As for what im building Yes it is an 9A 16v in a vw Mk2 golf..

I chose the K24 route as the manifolds made for 16v's of ebay are a load S**t! So the only other option was to go down the s2 route..

As for the wastegate Im deffo not using the stock audi s2 one, Internals are stayin stock as I know a few of the boy's are running serious power out of standard internals.

        the Expensive Route would be:
        - buy a RS2 EVO EM with T3 Flange, cut one Cylinder and put on a GT30

So 500HP without Headache... but compare to S2 Parts very Expensive...

Lupo do0es great stuff. too nice to chop.

id try the boost factory in the states. 16vt guru is paul aka killa. i had one of their snake manifolds. the ams one is no longer around. that was a 4 pot version of wagner to coin a phrase.

i did a 9a, wiseco pistons, scat rods. new everything, baffled sump, windage. i used a tial gate at the time.

my advice would be use a bigger turbo. the wheelspin on the k24 would be bad. id be going precision or gt30.

stacked gaskets will support upto 400 hp. try not to boost to high though. the twin ex cams work good too.

At the moment I just want to get it started and running, So thats why im using the s2 manifold and turbo.

After im happy that the engine is capable of more power that is when il consider upgrading the manifold and turbo 2 much better ones..

Which wastegate did you use? And have you got any pics of the setup? As it will be nice to see a 16v s2 setup for inspiration

Stacked gaskets are the way forward as im not planning to dish of £500-600 in forged pistons etc etc... Im running Kr cams in there now so they should be good for the turbo..

When you say wheelspin will be bad on a K24, What exactly do you mean? What management was you running? and what sort of power?

                  tbh mate never started it.

                  was looking for 500hp +

the 2wd and boost will burn tyres. boost will come on hard about 2400rpm and go to 55oo or so. it will just torque steer to the curb without a diff at 3k.

i got lots of pics of the bits i did. block build, inlet custom fab, turbo mounting, oil return, sump, 2 ex cam setup.......

i was going 6 speed so on ans so on.

i kept moving the goalposts. just go for it. its a wonmderful motor.

my mate is using most of my parts for a mk1 on tt running gear, 6 speed box 16vt. fully home built chassis, running gear and engine. then ill map it for him on either vems or maybe 034.

i've got the stock k24 off my S6 which i can sell you. it's done 100k miles but no play in the shaft. think i might have the ex mani and the downpipe too, but would have to check.

only problem is that i don't think i'll be able to get them up to london until the week before xmas, so if you're in a rush probably no good.
