I decided to fit the new faces that Rusty had sorted out for us. Rebuilt it all as normal, but after it had all been built and put back in the tacho does nothing.
I can only assume that it had something to do with pulling the needle off.
Any ideas? Anyone got a spare?
Thanks

The dials are designed so that you don't have to remove the needle. This doesn't help you out here but anyone who is not 100% confident taking it apart might want to use this method instead.
Might just be worth checking the plugs and that the needle is pressed home onto the shaft. When rotated in the +RPM direction, the needle should return to the 0 position. When fitting, loosely put the needle on the shaft so that it is at 500-1000 RPM and then carefully push it to the 0 point, then press firmly down to set the position.

The needle seems to be stiff rather than fluid. Seems like the internals have moved out of sink, if that makes sense

Oh dear, doesn't sound good. Worth spending a little time and effort to take it apart and check it all over. I've got to the point where I can dismantle the dials in about 10 mins

No Mark, you can't use one from any 80/Coupe etc.
For instance, manage somehow to get one from a TDi and the scale is different (redlines at 5200rpm). Sure the 2.0 I4 8v is different too.
I have one from a cq20v that you can have, but even better, I have your old S2's clocks without faces if you remember.
You can have the rev counter if you want it?
