    Wanted: Koni Shocks

My bilsteins are knackered in some way and i'm pretty sure it will fail its MOT on them nextweek.

I'm planning to replace the bilstein shocks with koni, and run koni's with H&R springs.

Am i right in thinking this will be nicer to drive on the roads but still be responsive and a decent ride height?

I'll almost certainly have the bilsteins refurnished, so it might be a temporary change, but does anyone have any koni's for sale for an ABY coupe?

    Cheers

The Konis are adjustable so can be setup to your taste - not that they're and easy thing to change the damping rate of as they're bottom adjustable. The damping rate will not adjust the rideheight of the car. I had mine originally at 1.5 from hard front, 1.0 from hard rear on stock springs and it was a little crashy but then S2 coupes are... they're now at 0.5 from hard front and rear with HnRs and the rear is very crashy, the front is still OK though.

I got mine from Demon Tweeks years ago, I think Aelred does them too.

DC performance has a good range of shocks and springs, Billy's, Koni, KW, H&R and the likes, not to sure how their prices compare with other retailers but most stuff has a discount attached..

I couldn't live with bilsteins after going out in a car with them and h&r's, good on track harsh on roads. Koni's I found are lovely, make for a perfect match imo with the h&r's.

Its worth asking aelred but not sure if he still does them, I had to source mine thru my local spares place when I got mine.

Newer Bilsteins are suppose to better however my experience of them is I wouldn't have them again they were awful in my Coupe with Koni, H&R and Stock springs tried the lot.

Koni shocks best street one IMO

KONIs are double the price as OE Boge one's. In combination with stock springs, are they worth it on a daily driver?

No for stock springs just use RS2 shocks on the front and rear or normal ones on the Coupe.

Sonic is going to be running with H&R however

                    Easy solution here... 1. sell coupe, 2. buy avant, 3. get rs2 shocks + s2 h&r's

and forever regret loosing your youth in one swift action. Ring up the samaritans who tell you to do the following:

be prepared to become a dad quicker than you was expecting and to look forward to getting the pipe and slippers for fathers day.

You hang up then go and contemplate the world and all its problems, if you can afford the fuel for the car, consider second car as an alternative, decide its easier to move closer to your job and by this time you realise its 7.30pm and its bedtime so retire to bed and dream of those days when you owned a coupe and could stay up late, go out drinking and didn't care about what the future might bring but was safe in the knowledge that you was hip, cool and actually and unfortunately knew some of the groups in the top 20.

                      cheers
