Looking for a set of Compomotive 1800s or similar for the S6. Not too bothered about the condition.

      Hey Tom

I've got a set of Kosei K-3s in 18x8.5 and they are wrapped in 255/35-18s. I don't know if that's enough rubber for you but they're fairly light at 18.5 lbs a piece. They also have a lot of room for Big Brakes.

Hap, wit dakine light not from Evahboost, Maguire

Yep - was at Bedford yesterday. Was generally very pleased with the car - brakes stood up well, plenty of power. Just suffered from a bit of understeer and the front tyres getting too hot. Not sure if there's much i can do about that - it is a heavy bus

            Bridgestone Potenza 235/40/17

During a session after lunch it suddenly started oversteering really badly. Came into the pits to find the front left tyre was flat + destroyed. Inside tyre wall completely deformed and bulging out all over the place. Not sure if that was from too much temp/pressure from cornering, heat off the brakes or just a dodgy tyre (it was a part worn from eBay)

It could have been down on pressure to begin with. Those wheels were meant to have 255/40/17's on them. I have only just fitted them to my car and went for Porsche fitment (N3) Pirelli PZero Rosso's and find them unbelieveably grippy!

Cheers but looking for something lightweight.

Any S6 owners know whether 19" 8.5J would fit? et 35 with 235/35/19 tyres. would they need spacers?

                      Two words - Tyre Pressures!

If you weren't watching them like a hawk then they'll have gone through the roof! Starting at 36 cold you'll have 44/45 hot on the front and about 42 on the rear. Need to start at 32 all round, 30 all round if you're running sticky tyres that generate heat. Ideally, have the rears higher than the front when warm, something like 36/37 was nice on my S2 coupe. This will help with the understeer for free.

I'd suggest going for something sticky in the rubber department, I've found that the extra grip means that you can go more aggressive and stop the understeer from getting a hold.

Understeer is down to the chassis setup as much as anything else, Audi are very safe. Short of getting some coilovers on there with proper spring rates, get a stonking bit rear ARB on there, if that's not enough then get the smallest front you can find too, strip any easily removed weight out the back, i.e. rear seats, spare wheel, parcel shelf. Taking the weight off the rear will make it easier to get moving but obviously you'll need to manage the front biased weight distibution -

Remember, slow in, fast out. If you want to get the tail to wag a bit then either trail brake or stay off the power into the corner. The I5 is difficult to modulate as standard so part throttle isn't as easy as you'd like - get the thing pointed round the corner with a bit of induced oversteer, hit the apex and then mash the throttle and let quattro do the rest. It's crude but very effective when you get the hang of it

thanks Rusty - some good advice there. do you know the Apikol ARB for the S6?

can anyone work out whether the following wheel would fit my car? would i need spacers?

                        19"
                        8.5J
                        45mm offset

Currently running the S6+ wheel which is 17" 8J and et40

                        cheers,

                            Hi Rusty,

Don't mean to hijack this, but good advice on the pressures. Car says 36 to 40 for cold pressures for an S6 with 255/40/17's, what would you recomend for fast road driving on them?

Also, do you know or a rear arb upgrade for an S6? There are actaully 2 different sizes of front on these cars depending on suspension choice from the factory (26mm or 28mm from memory)

hmm, so can i do the calculation

my wheels are 0.5 inch wider (12.7mm)
                              the offset is 10mm more
so 10 - 12.7/2 ~4mm further from strut on inside of wheel - and therefore will fit fine?
