01E quattro gearbox for spares.

Hi,

Since my gearbox had 2 busted syncros, I decided to replace them. Problem is that I managed to loose few tapered rollers. The bearing consists of 23 rollers, I have 16 left...
The baring sits on the input shaft from torsen to front diff, and rests on the hollow shaft. It's the only bearing without any braces to hold it together. Does anyone have few of these rollers from their gearbox? I only need 7

I heard about these always falling out when stripping the box.
unfortunately you can't just replace the rollers, you need to replace the whole bearing races, since they wear together. IIRC that bearing is an expensive one too

Yes, the bearing is one of the expensive ones Only found in the 01E quattro boxes, and i haven't found any alternatives to OEM rollers, 01E fwd, 016 and 01A use different code bearings.

Well i'd be happy to get the full set of 23 from one gearbox, but i'm willing to try combining rollers from different boxes. If they are exactly the same size, it should work without a problem.

Yeah there are a few bearings in the 01E that are special, thats why they cost so much
If I was you I would bite the bullet and buy a new bearings... about £100 i'd guess from my copy of the FA
