Drivers side window mech (Coupe)

My drivers side window mech decided today it wasn't playing ball
It will only go up or down a few inches before it stops dead and its making some horrible noises !
I am assuming that the cable has somehow got entangled inside the motor
This is the second time my window has failed in 3 years, last time I carefully rewound the cable from another mech back onto my motor.

Nightmare of a job and NOT one I wish to repeat so I'm looking for the complete mech minus the glass

1992 its a B4

I bought one from james(re2500) a few years ago but it was from a B3 so I know they will not fit

In the meantime I will probably have a go at re-winding the cables back into the motor.

Not looking forward to this though as the last time I did this my digits were raw for days !

Chris, I don't want to hijack your thread but I too am looking for a drivers side window mechanism for a 94 Coupe, the cable is snapped in mine. I picked the car up about 2 months ago and I've been looking for one since but to no avail.

Pete, it's unlikely you have a second mechanism lying around by any chance? Or if anyone else has one?

Any help would be appreciated,

Bit ******** off about this, my quattro has been off the road for 2 years now, due to get her out at the the end of May and this happens

I've not had a chance to have a look yet, I know I definately have 2x early motors, apparently these can be used with later cars.
