Wanted : Rear centre seat lap belt reel

My centre rear seat belt refuses to reel out, I dont think the car will pass my NCT without it working properly. Anyone got one, or tips on how to get it to un stick.

    Cheers

As it is a 95 car it may have the later seatbelts which lock / rachet themselves when you pull the seat belt out almost fully. Try it out on the passenger belt to determine if the car does.

Assuming it does, the lap belt may just have "incorrectly" locked up. You could try pulling the belt out hardish to get it to wrap the belt tighter around the reel to give you some extra slack to feed back into itself to unlock it ?

But before you do that pull up the base of the rear seat and it may expose (can't remember, not beside the car) the belts mechanism which may release the belt if you give it a tap with the handle of say a medium sized screwdriver. The little stainless steel ball bearing inside that moves around as part of the locking mechanism of a seat belt might just need a tap to free it ?

Hope these two suggestions make some sense.

If none of this works, get a secondhand belt on the forum.

    Kind regards.
