Buy a new one, the plastic gets so brittle with age its a false economy. I've broken 2nd hand ones trying to fit them

The pump is called an "additional water pump", PN 034965561C, and is common on Audi I5 turbos back into the 1980's and covers the 3B, AAN, ABY and ADU. As Mr. Mcandmar states, used = brittle = breaks = money down the bog.

yep mine crumbled and left half itself in the water pipe when trying to remove it. Small mod required (search on here for the details) if you get ones stocked in GSF

could just remove it and join the two pipes together in the short term....save the risk of it blowing at some point and the car can live fine without it as long as you dont rag it then park it

Agree. There is an example bypass connector shown in this After-run pump post:

The thought had crossed my mind, and then keeping the joiner in the boot incase it was ever a problem again in the future.

I hear it prime with ignition on. But ive never heard it after park up, however i do try to take it steady on the last part of any journey.

It wont be going far before one is ordered up.

                Cheers
