s2 3B is too short, linkage is different...clutch diferent...no go!
Use an old quattro gearbox and lock the center diff open..just to drive....but take care at the diff ratio.
The oem RR engined quattro has torsen center diff.

Did you break yours or did you want the Torsion box?

It's not for me but for a fellow UR owner. He had a mechanical nosie coming from the bell housing and the other symptoms were that it would judder quite badly. A mechanic diagnosed this as the clutch, but when I gave him a hand to take the old one out there was nothing wrong with it, or should I say that I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

So based on the theory that these boxes are indestructable, it was all put back together and within about 1/2 a mile the same thing happened again and then all of a sudden there was no drive. Having got the car back over the pit again, it selects gear fine, but when you let the clutch out there is a very loud mechanical nosie which can be felt through the gearbox and obviously the front and rear driveshafts are not moving.

The owner was thinking of getting the gearbox stripped, however this came back ata minimum of 5 hours labour so we were thinking of maybe taking the easy option and replacing it.

              Sounds familiar...

The 016 box wont take the torque of an O1E.. this is second gear in my old one. I have currently fitted an RR torsion box and turned the boost down. Will shortly be rebuilding a CGR box to do the six speed conversion and turn the boost back up...

              Fun fun fun....

              Darren.

Steve, if you are saying it does the same in every gear, I would like to place a small wager on the fact that the centre of the clutch friction plate is broken and is just spinning on the spot......

I would think Brian is right if its a standard car, a standard car wont produce the torque to break the box.

Even though mine destroyed second it had the same symptoms in every gear, even neutral because of the constant mesh design.
