3b seats have the slide handles on the other side from ABY to clear the cat tunnel, it can be swapped over though (cut and weld or bolt).

Just it case that affects what you are doing?

Not at all really but thanks for the info. They will be completely cannibalised and used to make some ford recaros fit. I will be loosing the hight adjust as there is just no room for it. Already done a dry run on another base I had, but I can improve on my design and get the seat lower so after 2 bases. I'll try do a bit of a run through with pics when i get round to doing it.

Are you cutting it up completely? I got my recaros to a reasonable height (6ft 1 ish and can wear a helmet in the car no problem) with it the base stripped down and a bit of box and flat bar across it.

Thats more or less the plan. The seats I have seem to sit high anyway. The metal base where the bolts go through is about 2-3 inches below the actual base fabric. I managed to get my first go quite low but recon I can get them lower, maybe an inch lower.

Other thing to consider is the angle of the base, my first attempt was "interesting", you certainly wouldn't have slipped forward anyway.

lol, Yeah I have kind of the opposite problem need to get the backs a little lower. Im going to use some heavy gauge box section and cut it so that the runner of the seat actually sits on the bottom part of the box section (what would actually be the inside wall). Essentially it will be sitting on flatbar. Hard to explain till I get some pics up. Gona give it a nice radius cut to take out any stress raisers and then drill the box section where I can to lighten it.

Lol, maybe you just need to try a car with lowered seats to appreciate it.

Im not that tall 5'11" but im struggling to get the recaros down as low as the factory seats.

I'm using an old polo bread-van as a daily at the mo and the seats sit nice and low in that, when I get in the coupe I feel like im driving a range rover lol.

oh mine do lower and i've now got b5 a4 leather seats attached to my b3 height adjustable seats, i just couldn't think why they wouldn't go low enough but then if there non adjustable with different seats attached then i get it now
