    front brake upgrade

    Hi everyone.
Looks like i may have a bit of spare cash this month so am looking at upgrading my brakes.

Does anyone have a complete upgrate setup?
Looking at 996 calipers and 330+ discs to fit under 18" a8 alloys.

Open to all suggestions but price may have an influence over it.

Anyway let me know if you have anything to offer or that may help me get started.

    Cheers

    simon.

I think will at vrs might have a set of 996calipers and brackets.

All you'd need.then are.discs which if you do a search for 323mm discs you'll find details of how to get them from camskill. And some yellow stuff pads!

Bambridge makes nice brackets for the 996's, thats what i'm using on mine. Disks you can pickup anywhere really, early Audi S8 from memory. Can recommend ferodo pads but they aint the cheapest option.

          Cheers guys.

Just out of interest has anyone had experience with XYZ brakes? Just looking at all my options and found these fairly cheap with 6pot calipers and alloy bell type rotors. Okay slightly more expensive than 996 but is it worth the extra?

          Cheers

Would you say that this is the best compromise between brake power and price on the S2. I found that the big red option on the RS2 is not the best since disc price is ridiculous with no after market options.

XYZ have been discussed before here: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...&highlight=xyz

I don't know anything about them personally, but 6pot with a 286mm disc looks a bit strange though. I'd be concerned by having to buy their discs and pads too which they probably over charge for. The good thing about a porsche setup is you can have whichever discs or pads you choose at a competitive rate.

              For £900 you could get:
              Delivery mileage 996 calipers £400
              Ferodo Pads £120
              Decent 323mm or 318mm discs £100
              Brackets £120
              Custom brake lines £50

And you'd have £110 left to pay for some extra petrol...

The 318mm discs fit under 16" rims, 323mm under 17" minimum brackets are freely available for either setup.

The other option is to buy a full setup that someone on the forum is selling second hand which come up every so ofter for ~£500.

Good write up there Colesy, you can get the larger GT3 4 pot setup for the same price if you look in the right places

What setup would you guys recommend for RS2 front brake upgrade? I have the standard front brakes and planning to have bigreds or something else, but what and from where?

                    GT3 calipers, 429 & 430

Depending on where you get the brackets either 322 RS2 discs or 330 GT3 discs and DS2500 calipers

I love this setup on my RS2 hubs

To be honest im being lazy and after a complete set up, im not very good at sourcing all the parts. Lol.
Guess ill just keep an eye out for the 996 set up with the biggest discs i can fit under my 18' a8 alloys.

I bought secondhand calipers off ebay £130 for both (crap pic of just one with no part numbers listed), disc £65 quid A8 323 NEW, textar pads 35 ECP, carriers Bambridge 120 and made my hard lines. Total £340 Its worth buying bits here and there makes it cheaper. Then sell the old setup for 50-100 quid.
