A little off-topic, but... does someone have a picture of a removed failed unit. I have one of my current top mounts sitting around 5mm more squished than the other, but I have yet to remove it and see where it gave up.

The Meyle top mount feedback is from numerous Quattroworld posts, seems the bonding of the rubber to the outer mounting fails. Don't know if the HD ones are any better but Meyle are avoided generally now for parts by those guys.

How hard are those mance's mount savers? I'm wondering what Shore A durometer polyurethane to use - 60, 70, 80, 90... choices, choices... according to 034 the OEM mounts have rubber with a 60 Shore A hardness... ideas?

i've given them a top mount and asked them to have a look to see how they can improve it .
the chap who i'm dealing with is on holiday till 20th august so i'll have some news after that.

In terms of shore rating, it's as much a matter of how you're going to manufacture it, as it would be a pig to machine really soft poly where as you can machine chilled 90 shore reasonably well (as used on my snub mounts). Another option would be to use delrin or aluminium. Not seen the Mance ones so not sure what mount savers use.

Has no-one else had 034 density top mounts fail, mine lasted 10K miles and have now gone back to Ur blue versions and hope they last longer...

I'm thinking about using a 2 component polyurethane resin, make a cone-like wedge that I'll put inside the OEM mount to protect the bearings. The wedge will have the shape of the metal hat that sits on top of the mount. Then I'll pour the polyurethane resin, wait for it to cure and voila! No need to machine anything, because the resin will take the shape of the mount. I'll just have to be careful how much resin I use. But the different resins are available in different shore ratings...
