    My first S2

Hi there, im 25 been running a 92 civic with integra type r engine (200bhp) for the last few years and decided its time to grow up change to an Audi. Also own an A4 TDi Just now which will also be going to allow me to get a good S2. I am budgeting for about £6k to leave me a bit of money for mods straight away.

I am keeping an eye on these forums for any for sale but would be looking for a good one with reasonable milage. Any suggestions on other places to look? Have seen a few in Autotrader but nothing that takes my fancy. One with the usual brake, sus and minor engine mods would be prefered and one that has been owned by an enthusiast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    Stu

        Hi Stuart

The one you asked Ant about was my old one - you will be familiar with that car.

How much power and torque do you want out of the car with £6k of mods? Since you can do the work yourself, you could get a beast of a car if you are willing to put that sort of money into it straight away.

About time there was another serious modifyier of these cars up here.

Read it again - it says spend £6k on the car and that will leave a bit of money for mods - or am I reading it wrong

LOL, that should get you some nice power with a rod bending amount of torque. Sounds good. Good luck too.

              Just what i was thinkin

Will prob have about £2k to start me off on mods.

Having done a bit of reading on these forums, it seems like brakes and sus are the first things I shud mod. So would hope to get a car with these mods carried out already so i can start on power gains

Doh - nah - you want to spend £6k on the engine - trust me - you will end up doing that Stuart.

Decide now - how much you want powerwise - then do it properly from the start and it will save you a fortune in the long run.

Get the suspension and brakes sorted - and a standard remap - then live with that until you can go all out for mega power.

I drove Lees car for a couple of days a couple of weeks ago - the green avant with massive brakes - that sort of suspension, tyres and brakes and JUST a remap on the standard engine is fun - aim for that to start with - that is fun because it is SO well planted to the ground and you know the brakes are there to outbrake anything.

And - don't rule out the avant - it is a good sleeper - and a bit more stable at the rear.

Yea, ive had your brother trying to convince on that one too

Really prefer the styling to the coupe which is important to me. Sure with a bit of money spent on suspension the handling will be satisfactory

As for power, your probably right, I WILL want as much power as I can get Learnt alot from modding cars in the past and like u say, i will decide on the final outcome I want before spending any money on engine mods.

There is an n reg for £6200 on autotrader - hopefully it is a late n reg so it has the better 6 speed box - with the wider 1st gear.

It is far away - but I found you had to travel to get a good one - I got the first one from Bristol and the current one from Sheffield.

Doug... I'm detecting some motor swinging here.... you have an 80 avant as your daily hack, and now you say things like "Don't rule out the avant" are we swinging to the dark side? :mischeif:

I think mine is getting ready for big power. Chasis is pretty good and a bit of lightening before some power goodies. Doug, you should try it when the suspension is properly aligned! Even better.

As soon as one passes me, I will move to the dark side.

That is another thing - if you plan on lightening/stripping the car I would invest in adjustable suspension from the start - learnt that from Martyn.
