    Late S2 Coupe

    Hi

If you have a late S2 coupe with FSH in mint condition that you'd consider letting go to a good home then please let me know.

My preference is for a dark colour but as always with cars never say never it really depends on how it looks in the flesh.

A Northelle would be great but I appreciate I might have to wait a while for one of those.

    Thanks in advance

    Andrew

      thanks for that.

I know it could be a bit of a money pit but it cant be anywhere near as bad as the amount of depreciation Ive lost on the last few cars Ive bought newish :-)

At least with a really nice modern classic and rare like the S2 I wont lose money though I appreciate like all things you want to keep in top condition running costs would be a little more than normal...

Oh I forgot it cant be anywhere near as bad as the 914 Im restoring at the moment, I almost need to sell a kidney and a leg for that project:-) hence wanting an S2 in tip top condition to start...

      Thanks

      Andrew

          Thanks

I did have a 2.2 10V Quattro coupe for a while and really liked it but it was a bit slow. A couple of years later nearly bought an S2 (about 12 years ago) but I was persuaded by the audi dealer chap to go for an S4 instead as I was doing lots of miles he said it would be better in the long term as it was newer. The S4 was obviously a newer car inside and fine but I only had the S4 a few months as the one I bought had been in an accident and repaired out of insurance so it didnt show up on the hpi check. Since then Ive had an S3, 996, 330D coupe and a 2.9 Boxster. The Boxsters nice but ive never really warmed to it. Dont know why its a great car and faster than I'll ever need I just feel like I stick out like a sore thumb in it and I dont like that. Im hoping the S2 would be nice and subtle probably a hell of a lot more comfy than the Boxster and still very fast when you need it to be... plus I like the fact no one really knows what it is.. bit like the 914 Im restoring:-)

          thanks

I don't think the Nothelle conversions were done on late models but I may be wrong.

Thanks the car looks amazing and definitely in the sort of condition/mileage and history Im looking for. The only thing thats making me think twice is the fact that my last 4 cars have been red and I was hoping for a change of colour next time. Ill have a think about it over the next couple days and let you know.

                    thanks

Thanks to everyone who came back to me. Apols for not being in touch. From woking at home / local and having time to do stuff like look for cars I now find myself over night having to drive up to 1000 miles a week with my job (Ive a new client spread all over the place).

Has anyone converted their S2 coupe or avant to LPG? Just thinking of a way to still go for an S2 but keep fuel costs down.... otherwise ill have to get a motorway muncher tdi special...

                      thanks

There have been a few LPG conversions but most aren't worth the effort. Get an A4 TDI for less than the cost of the conversion and keep things simple on these complicated old beasts.

Yep I know your right. Ill have a look for a AD Avant TDI and then come back to the S2 (if my wife will let me have another car) when Ive got something sorted that will do the job of long distance travelling.

Just out of interest... does anyone know anything about this S2 avant on gum tree. Ive not spoken to the trader I just know its got no history just old mots...
