16 valve KR cylinder head. Early casting.

I'm after a spare KR head to build up, must be a pre 1988 unit, the part number will start with 027 as opposed to 054. Would prefer one with cams, I don't mind knackered guides or missing valves. Must be crack free.

Its not what you asked for but if you get stuck, i have a spare 16v head in the garage, but it is a 6A head. I dont think there is an awful lot of difference?

Cheer James. Actually mate I recently found out there is quite a difference in the quality of the castings and port knife edges etc. The ports on the early VW 027 heads are sooooo much better than any of the others, when you have one of each side by side you'll be quite shocked how rough the late ones are in comparison. Your Golf should have one on if it's still on it's original head, as has mine, thing is I want to build up and install my 6A motor this winter and I don't want to disable the car while I'm building the engine.

I have a skimmed late head with good guides and new stem seals that I was going to use, I'd be prepared to swap it for a serviceable early unit.

Thats good to know mate, Yeah I still have the 1986 head on mine. I just changed to the 6A bottom end, hence the spare 6A head...
