    FPR & Advice

    Hi All,

Been reading up on FPR's and still none the wiser. I've done an RS2 conversion and the rail still has the original ABY FPR fitted. My research concluded that I need either a 3.8 or 4.0 bar FPR fitted if i'm going to run a map or chip for 360-370bhp. I had an issue where, on the standard RS2 chip, the engine cut power at around 5.5k rpm and wondered of this was due to the FPR or is another issue that needs investigating? Either way do I need to change the FPR and if I do which is the one to go for (7A?) and does anyone have one for immediate sale? If not who do I call on Monday to purchase one?

    Many thanks

I spoke with Will when he did the map for my ABY on RS2 spec, I mentioned that I had the stock 4.0 bar FPR and he said he could map for that and has, no problems at all and running great with this setup, changing the FPR on the ABY at RS2 spec isn't necessary.

If you are running stock RS2 chip then most likely you will need the RS2 3.8 bar FPR I assume

Of the top of my head

      3B 3.0 bar
      ABY/AAN 4.0 bat
      ADU 3.8 bar
      7A 4.0 Bar

7A is used as a 4bar upgrade for a 3b as they are similiar design, remote on hose. ABY FPR clips into the fuel rail.

I would use whatever fpr the ecu software is for.

Best to check with whoever will be making the map for it

It's more than likely going to be chip upgrade as opposed to a re-map so presumably the chip will be set up for a particular FPR?

I think it should be. Not got any idea of what is done whilst mapping but assume that the mapper would want details such as spark plugs, type of ignition coils used, fuel pump, injectors and FPR, turbo EM and IC and maybe other small things such as ABY/RS2 airbox/cone filter? exhaust? Think the more they know about the car the better

You certainly need to map for the relevant FPR rating, running an generic RS2 chipset at the wrong fuel pressure is not a good idea.

Not sure how much the Audi unit is but I think you should be able to use Porsche unit from a 993 / 996 / 986 and others: 993 110 199 00
                Maybe someone else can confirm?

                  Maybe useful?

Considering the ECU can run and idle perfectly on 440cc injectors with 4 bar FPR, that's not it either.

If you tune your car with adjustable FPR's then that is not the way Porsche had to tune the car when they had access to all the calibration data for Motronic.

                    Yes.

If you use an ABY RS2 chipset then 4 bar fpr (assuming that is what the chipset is for)

If you use a genuine RS2 chipset you would wand a 3.8 bar fpr (and appropriate resistor in the ecu for maf scale)

Cheers guys. Very useful info. I'm going to have to confirm what my RS2 chip is (it's fitted in an ABY ECU with the resistor mod carried out by the ever helpful and skilled SteveH) and work things out from there. If it is a genuine RS2 chip would the 4.0 bar fpr be an issue or is it recommended to change it over to the 3.8 bar unit from the ADU spec set-up and then get my up-graded RS2 chip to suit? I obviously don't want to cause any issues.
