Lee, how effective is this kind of octane booster?
I was trying to find some around here for doing some tests, but the brands I've sourced are totally useless.
Any pics of the bottle I might recognize the brand....

I will dig out the info you are after tomorrow...off to bed in a minute! I have some independant test data on the RON improvements. My S2 is off the road now. I tried CVL (+3RON) and it was much smoother under boost. I never tried the CVL Turbo (+4RON). This is RON improvement not the octane point increase as most stuff is marketed by.

CVL Turbo really works! I have supplied it to many and they swear by it. I notice that my dad's Mihnea-mapped 850R is a different animal after some CVL Turbo.

Its good gear - tis based on MMT - as opposed to MTM

MMT is the chemical acronym for the additive known as (wait for it) Methyl cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl !

It has lead-like properties for added knock resilience, without the nasty side effects with lead based additives.

The other alternatives are Toluene and Xylene of course. I plan to test this locally very soon. Time hasn't permitted yet, but the theory is fine and other folk run happily on it.

Search for Toluene on the forum for some recent threads and analysis of RON/MON

Already did an extensive search for them a long time ago. No way to get hold of some here.
Maybe some paint thinners might work as well (containing some good percentages of toluene), but not knowing the precise composition of the solution I don't feel safe with utilizing any.

I used 3 bottles of CVL turbo at the track day i went to, made a difference and was noticeable, till my DV broke

Think Lee said with cats the CVL turbo can only be used once every few tanks full. Sure the CVL can be used more regular tho.

                              Cheers,
