I'm. Wanting a turbo for my 1996 s6. something that will give me a little more bhp. I'm not wanting massive gains, say around Rs2 spec or less. If you also have chips that would go with the turbo that would be better, Thanks

i'd be grateful if you'd share your experience with us on this subject - i've been thinking similar thoughts too!

i have a k26/8 from porsche 944 turbo 250bhp model. not sure how much of an upgrade of a turbo it is, but i know it will do 320 odd hp without too much hassleComment

Nickson, to be honest-ist would be a shame to fit your 8 hotside to a motor who should get araound 420hp or less
Everything under that power can be done with RS2 or normal 6 hotside K26. So would be a real waste of this rare part
@imp998: thought about upgrading stock turbo? Would be my favourite choice up to mid 300hp. Best spool, littlest lag.Comment

on the porsche this 8 hotside turbo is only running at 250bhp! thats on a 2.5 4 pot 8v engine. i dont think the compressor side is big enough to support anything like 420bhp as far as i know. but the turbo could be modified with bigger compressor wheel to get that sort of figure?
are the 8 housings sought after then?Comment

yeah, i've been told to get that done. spink does the biz but first i need to find out why the tub is burning oil. i reckon that it's something to do with the turbo but will need to have a compression test done first to rule the engine out. i'm pretty certain it's not the head as it doesn't blow blue smoke on start up but the exhaust smells like an old ford!
anyway, tyres next, then compression check and if all's well then power upgrades.
ps what oils would you use in the diff and gearbox in my car? i reckon that it could use changing by now!Last edited by geneandbolly; 28 February 2015, 21:28.1997 Audi S6 - The Purple Helmet!Comment

The No.8 housing should be able to flow more. The stock porsche turbo may be chocked by the coldside? The 10v audi k26 has a small coldside with a larger hotside, so laggy and chokes.on the porsche this 8 hotside turbo is only running at 250bhp! thats on a 2.5 4 pot 8v engine. i dont think the compressor side is big enough to support anything like 420bhp as far as i know. but the turbo could be modified with bigger compressor wheel to get that sort of figure?

Here is a k26 no 8 hotside on a k24 7400 turbine, a fair bit bigger.

You need to start a project threadyeah, i've been told to get that done. spink does the biz but first i need to find out why the tub is burning oil. i reckon that it's something to do with the turbo but will need to have a compression test done first to rule the engine out. i'm pretty certain it's not the head as it doesn't blow blue smoke on start up but the exhaust smells like an old ford!

Spink, PRJ, S2central or buy an ECU on here that is already chipped.
I would just use new standard oil, it has lasted will so far, no point in trying to be fancy.
Anyway get a project thread up

where would i get this stuff and what oil am i looking for, andy? i don't want to get the wrong stuff in there if, as you say, the existing stuff has lasted this long!! there's not a sound from anywhere on this old tub - perhaps the first car i've owned NOT to have a rattle, knock or drone from somewhere or other!

Yes, it chokes on hotside. By far.on the porsche this 8 hotside turbo is only running at 250bhp! thats on a 2.5 4 pot 8v engine. i dont think the compressor side is big enough to support anything like 420bhp as far as i know. but the turbo could be modified with bigger compressor wheel to get that sort of figure?

The 8 hotside is rare and very capable, but I promise, really promise you that anyway nobody wants them. You can give it to me

Hi chaps, I have bought a k26/27 turbo, with a 81/53 compressor and 65/54 rotor.
Say's it will make 450/480 bhp.Urs6 avant nogaro
