    RS2 Intercooler and X member

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a good RS2 intercooler and X member for sale. Just gathering the last few parts before she's ready for the road.

I've got a budget off £300 if anyone has anything.

    Cheers

You might get the intercooler for £300 but I doubt you'll get the pair, this is more like the going rate

You can fit the intercooler to your crossmember if you make a bracket to hold it.

My own crossmember has seen better days to be fair and has a couple of cracks on the drivers side mounting area and several wee dents and creases along the whole assembly. It could be salvaged and but would prefer a decent one to go back on.

I've spoke with Simon already but he's holding out for closer to his asking price which is fair enough.

The last RS2 intercooler and crossmember that was for sale was going for £200 so was hoping perhaps £300 would get be something decent, perhaps not?

It's easy enough to adapt an S2 ABY Xmember to fit RS2 cooler

I would just convert your existing x member, cut the bracket off and use some suitable section and re weld in the right position

It's the general condition of the x member really, if something decent doesn't crop up i'll certainly be looking to give it some TLC and make it fit for purpose again.

Any idea roughly how much power can a 3B intercooler handle under normal driving conditions, with the odd blast here and there?

You will be fine if you are running home fries. Another option instead of rs2 route is to use a generic inter cooler and make a new x member. Such as these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-...-/350512906341

I have just fitted a Hoffer RS2 Hybrid, with a K26 variant turbine wheel so the 3B intercooler will be struggling with charge temps on more spirited drives! I like the ebay intercooler idea, and the price, however are theres proven to have good flow and heat dissipation? Making up a new x member to fit it is no probs. If these coolers are even better than the RS2 items then it's a win win situation.

Quite a few members have used these intercoolers to good effect on 500hp setups. There are some focus intercoolers for £200 that would work well too

I fitted the RS2 IC to my old 3B with cable ties quite effectively! Then got a small bracket made up to bolt it in place. You'll find more success finding an S2 x-member and modding it to fit.

Going custom will get you more bang for the buck as there is always a premium for RS2 parts. It did fine with my set-ups around 430hp so you should be fine either way.

If you do end up wanting an RS2 IC only, i have one boxed in the garage with no damage, PM me if interested.
