'and, yet another rear diff (that lasted long)'

Hmm, could see that coming after knowing its origin.

        Hi Martin
I have a 3B gearbox. Done 148000 km. I fooked up 5 gear. when i mounted a much larger turbo. This means that the box has only driven with a standard setup (220 hp). I have bought all the spareparts for renewing 5. gear. Bearings, cogwheels ect...
It´s dissassempled at the moment. Everything cleaned and stored in boxes so you know how to reassemble it.
If any interrest please write me.

Thanks soern, Im not 100% sure what i want to do yet.
Seriously considering conversion to 6 speed.
just want to see whats on the market first.

Sal, yeah diffs are the same AYV code

the one i got was from a 7A, code AEC same internals also but smaller flanges so swapped mine onto it.

Jesus H, Gearbox, propshaft and new rear diff! going to cost some serious wonga It was a right b*tch changing that on a ramp wasn't it, hope you dont have to do it on your drive.

Have you been doing 7k launches on your motor?

mind you it is a 3B

If you go 6 speed remember you need all new gear linkage.

No i wont be fitting all that on axle stands.
Diff was ok at first then i got a drone at high speed an thought it was wheel bearings, but there is lots of play in the diff now and wheel bearings are ok. Had everything inspected yesterday at a garage.

Im leaning towards 6 speed now, if i can find one that is, i know the linkage is like rocking horse ****e too.

@martin, im making my own linkage, just as easy to make two as it is one, PM me if your interested - alternatively you can have my 5 speed for £75 all thats wrong with it is you have to hold it in 2nd gear everything else fine cant see it being a difficult repair

@sal, aby - 3B diffs are different ratios

Dont fancy having to take one to bits really, but thanks anyway.

6 speed is definately the preference at the moment.

What other boxes can be used?
One from the S4 2.7 can cant it?
                          how about the AAN S4?

To be honest ive been expecting this anyway, what with the galactic mileage plus a slight power upgrade.
suprise it lasted this long really.
