Colin check with TPS or Audi they might still produce new front subframes? Mine was brand new from TPS 2-3 years ago - you never know?

Yeah- it's your old coupe! I did think they weren't looking brilliant but no worse rhan last year when it passed with no advisories- surely if they failed comprehensively this year then an advisory shoulda beenflagged up already- same garage btw. Bummer cos i'm skint and i shan't get it back ont'road for some time now

              First thing I asked !
Surely feasible for some judicious welding ....

Colin, have they actually said it's holed?? I'm wondering if they're being too hard.
I was off the understanding that it would need to be "excessively corroded and holed" as opposed to just corroded, for it to fail??

I'd need to find my refusal sheet (it got launched in a bad mood to rear of cabin) but seem to remember just 'excessivelly corroded'. He said he didn't want to try to repair them as he wasn't confident there was enough good metal left near the mount points/load bearing sections- which is fair enough....

A couple of years back my S2 coupe was going for its MOT and my mechanic said it would fail because the rear sub frame was " holed"
So we remove the sub frame cleaned it, welded it and I got it galvanised.
Point is no matter how bad it can be fixed!

Hi- thanks for the moral suport!
As I may be selling the car when it's fixed, I want to be able to say (&photo evidence)that I've got the best used frames I could get hold of- within my budget .

Hi- if it's 7a 20v then can fit with a spacer but I don't know if saloon front frames are same as coupe front frames!

Saloon and coupe front subframes are the same on 5 cyl 10v and 20v coupe and 90's B3 models and same as 3b S2.

Later ones in V6 use different gearbox mounts which I assume are the same as ABY S2 but never having owned an ABY engined car I can;t confirm.

I can confirm that V6 and I5 fronts are different in the position of the gearbox mounts (the welded on part on the subframe is in a slightly different vertical position) so spacers would be required if an I5 normally aspirated frame is used on the front of a V6.

I5 20v 7a and v6 rears are the same as a 3b S2 and include the anti roll bar mount, and I assume same as ABY. The 10v coupe and saloon rear subframes do not include the anti roll bar mounts but other than that they are the exact same dimensions.
