    3b 5 speed to 6 speed conversion

Hi there, am new here so apologies if I ask some silly questions. I'm the lucky fellow that bought Eric's pearl white s2!

Just wondering if anyone has some parts for sale that are required when swapping from 5 speed to 6 speed, gearbox, prop etc

The stronger 01e box is required please, unfortunately I have the chocolate 01a which I've been informed is no good as I'd like to do a few drag runs!

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks very much

    Nice purchase, congratulations!

I wouldn't condemn the 5 speeder too quickly. They last fairly well, even with regular abuse. My current box has well over 100K on it and takes plenty of punishment from 430+ Hp and 620NM. Launch starts will break your rear driveshafts before the box. BTDT a few times now. I have a full 6 speed conversion ready to go on, but I decided to do it when the 5 speed broke. Still going strong and only just starting to to show signs of abuse after a couple of years of punishment. I prefer the gearing on the 5 speed too.

I always thought that although the 01E box maybe stronger, the 01A was better for drag racing becasue the longer 3rd gear means one less shift in the quarter??

I agree with you there. Less shifts obviously works out to less time messing around and more time with your right door buried. From the research I've gathered it seems to be that they aren't very strong. However talking to Steve regarding this and he seems to have no had any issues (at higher power than I'm currently aiming for) so I think I may hold fire on this for the moment.

Sounds like a hit and miss situation, but as a whole what's the worst that can happen? I get a recovery truck home haha.

3rd on the 5 speed is perfectly suited to a tuned S2
