No servo effect on the brakes

You're gonna laugh at me now. So what. I have the big red porse brakes on since november. Recently I had the pleasure to drive the missus' 2,8 coupe q just to notice how miserable MY porse setup is compared to her conventional setup of the other coupe. Its not that my porse brakes don't decelerate the car, actually if I put my foot on the pedal hard enough, my head hits the screen, but it is clear now that there is no or not enough servo effect on the S2. There has never been to be honest, not even with the factory system on. And now I understand why my mate almost hit the wall when driving my car, saying there was no brake on the coupe. I kind of got used to it but when I drive any other car, I feel mine is sick. What is this please?

I find the S2 brake pedal much harder than other cars, especially other Audis, but for me this is a plus point as it is much easier to control the braking. More force = more braking, less force = less braking, usually is about travel.

It is very similar to a standard Porsche brake system, those pedals are usually very hard and travel very little.

      Hi Horvath,

It may be a faulty bomb. I would have thought the autocheck may show this.

have look here to check the problem.

Check the hydraulic servo as well.

Good advice - best get the hydraulic system checked for pressure - and that the servo is working properly. There is some internal valving which can fail and give problems like you describe.

Are you running with the gooey green G2000 hydraulic fluid or something else ?

            Paul,

All my fluids are factory Audi brand. The system gives 3 beeps and 6 blinks in my face almost each time I start the engine. First I thought it was the hydraulic fluid level and I topped it but It was no cure. According to the aformentioned bomb test, david, my bomb is Ok. Hmmm.

              Gabor,

Mine did the same everytime I started it up and the pedal took quite a lot of pressure to get the brakes working. I've also got big reds

I've had the brake bomb replaced along with the front pads and discs so when (if ) I ever get it back from the garage I'll let you know if it improves things.

Ben, might be following you with replacing the bomb too, especially since it ticks all of the time too!

                hopefully it will sort it.

Like I said ... get a proper hydraulic test done. Testing the bomb is only part of the story... The hydraulic pump should generate something like 140bar of pressure - you need special equipment to test this.

If the pump is good, and the bomb is good then you must have a faulty brake servo.

                      Just a follow up.

As said I had the bomb replaced and the problem is solved. No more beeping and the brakes feel stronger too (although I am now running different front pads and S4 vented rear setup)
