New Monoblocks fitted - and feeling good

    Hi Folks,

I am happy to report that I have finally managed to pursuade my garage owning mate to stay late and help fit my new brakes I know that I should have done the job myself, on the drive in the dark (as I did with Pauls MIL upgrade) but the words owning, dog, and barking come to mind

Firstly, I would like to say a big thanks to Jas (Fourrings) and BRY for their constant advise on this and many other issues...helping a newbie into easy S2 ownership.... guys.

I thought I would write a quick update for the newbies here, who are still trying to work out what they need to do this now infamous conversion, but I have just realised that I left my digi camera at my mates garage, so I will post pics and a guide tomorrow.

For now, all I can say is that without even having finished the bedding-in process, they feel fabulous. I was not convinced I would notice better braking, since I am still reliant on the same 2 front tyres, so I was just hoping for less fade. In reality, I have much better pedal feel (prolly coz I am now on RS2 hard lines) and considerably beter stopping power....oh, and less fade too

    Cheers n

    Si (is a happy bunny)

Which carriers did you use? What size disc?

And how hard was it too do the MIL?

        So many questions!

Yep, just completed almost 100 miles today on my new brakes and the pedal feel and the stopping power is quite amazing compared to the old setup. These ferodo pads smell like candles when they are hot which is a bit odd, either that or its the anti corrosion coating on the brembo discs but man do those ds2500's bite nicely. Doing a decent bed in so hopefully i'll be able to give them some abuse soon enough but just happy enough to get back in the car for the first time in a while and also see that the pads are sweeping the discs properly too A combination of cold air, a full tank of tescos' super and a set of 4pots up front makes for one biiiiiiig smile!!!!

What pads have you used in your conversion Si? reason for asking is I can see the balance weights on the top. IIRC only the lastest standard Porsche pads (textar) have these unless other manufacturers have started doing it too.
A modification by Porsche to stop squealing I'm lead to believe .
Just got myself some Mintex from local specialist, trade price and no vat, no bad for £28.99 even if they turn out to be pants.

Everything on SR71 (J's) (or Chris :mischeif: ) conversion is brand new.
It's the only way I could get him reds that I could trust would be good.
