    Coefficient Of Friction.

    Hi!,

Can anyone tell me the cf of brake backing pads, not the friction material
What performance advantages are there in metal to metal contact rather than using the pad as friction material. :mischeif:

There is no single value for one material, it must be two, like steel/steel or ice/rubbere and so forth. A good starting point for steel/steel would be 0.75Cd but that is really a sort of "educated guess". Depends on the types of steel.

        Robin,

I'm sure you not referring to my rear brakes that we changed yesterday

That was an experiment I've been conducting for my new design of full metal pads.
Early results show there is more development to be undertaken before they will be a useful replacement for pad material

            Hello!
Steve, I think you might be onto something there!
If Graham's cf figures are correct, thats better than some of the brake pads out there!
However, you will need to work on the noise/brake disc wear issues!
