a quick question, as my S2 is now going to be off the road for a few months having an engine/gearbox rebuild, i want to up-grade my front brakes (already have porsche calipers for the rear).
which calipers do i need for a 330mm disc?
and i have found that the EBC red stuff pads have worked well with the EBC turbo discs.

996 calipers will go over a 330mm disc, but, it depends on the width of the disc, 32mm or wider would be GT3 calipers - 4 or six piston. Not done this yet as I'm waiting for big wheels and sunshine.

Good stuff, never had any major bother with it myself.
Cossy is OK, not been as reliable as the S2 (no suprises there though), probs spent about £1500 on it so far in the 7 months I've had it, but such is life...
Simon, is yours the red 3B coupe with 17" RS4 replica wheels, bought from Salmon?? If so it used to belond to my brother, it was him who put the wheels on. How is it going? It was a good car when he had it.
You need to talk to Bry about brake upgrades, he has most of the stuff in stock and he does a good fitting service too, it would be nice to see the car again.

Yeah thats the one mate.A little rougher than it was but it does the job when asked ha ha. It needs some tlc just not got the time at the mo.Tryin to make some good money to get it painted over the winter and get all the mods done for next year.
Get your calipers from Bry, get your discs (323mm x 30mm A8's) from GSF, get your lines from Graham (tekkno435 at s246parts ) and I could sort the carriers (Seat carriers modded). Pads are up to you mate, EBC, Ferodo, Textar, etc.
I'll even give you a hand to fit em.
Im after this myself..
will the a8 disks fit inside stock s2 wheel?
also do the disks not need to be cut to size? Is this really all i need to purchase for the upgrade? (exclusing fluid and pads) ?
I've got stock 16" Avus six spokes and used the 314mm x 30mm A8 disc purchased from GSF.
My carrier was a total custom job, only because my brother had one of our toolmakers knock it up for us. It's an exact copy of a modified Seat carrier (which I've done since for Si aka "Hpmuirt")
Yep, you'll need fluid, pads and also the carrier to hub bolts and the caliper to carrier bolts (get em from vagparts)

And then?
You would need different calipers to "use" the bigger disc!
Unless you are a "boy ricer" type who wants the biggest disc for the top trumps car park challenge! :mischeif:

Aye Tim, but that leaves you with very little room, WAY to close for comfort IMHO.
Beauty of using the modded Seat carrier and 314mm disc is that you get everything spot on ie, Gap between caliper and inside of rim, and the pad sits on the disc with an equal 2/3mm of disc showing beyond the edge of the pad material and you don't have to bend the pad retaining spring to much
Is 8mm on the overall size of the disc such a huge difference? Or is it just a "mines bigger than yours" thing? :mischeif:
