Well mine are 323mm. That makes for nearly 6% more disk for better heat dissipation, compared to the 314mm disks.

Beauty of using the modded Seat carrier and 314mm disc is that you get everything spot on ie, Gap between caliper and inside of rim, and the pad sits on the disc with an equal 2/3mm of disc showing beyond the edge of the pad material and you don't have to bend the pad retaining spring to much

Is 8mm on the overall size of the disc such a huge difference? Or is it just a "mines bigger than yours" thing? :mischeif:

Aye, i'm sure its a great mod. Of course its about how big mine are, My Big Red solution was a tried and tested one too, sold by Movit by AMD i think especially to fit under 16" avus's. I agree it was quite a tight fit though.

And then you'll have tiny, tiny rear brakes that your ricer mates will laugh at and me

My rear calipers will be the same size as your fronts

I'll even give you a hand to fit em.
I was thinking, if im going to do a brake upgrade i might as well go for some larger disks. Im gonne be on 17" wheels, can i use the method above but just use a bigger disk and have the carriers machined down to a different size ?

whats the largest disk i can fit into a 17" ?

apart from a diff size disk and differently moddified carriers, other stuff still the same for this upgrade? (caipers, hardlines etc...)

also, if i fit larger disks on the back, will that upset the brake ratio (front to back) ?

why don't you try a 345mm x 30 under a set of 18's will need a customer bracket though and maybe it won't fit under a 996/boxster s caliper. thats what I was looking to do but decided that it was easier and tried and tested to go with the 323x30, 996 caliper, Bry's seat bracket and some rs2 hardlines + ds2500 pads. They look awesome and seemingly stop really well too....just a ****** to bleed all the bloody air from, still finding little stream of bubbles.....but eh pedal feel is coming in nicely now !

well im not techically minded so i cannot "try" new methods.

I thought if 323x30 method is tried and tested, can i use this methos but just have the disks that little bit bigger? whats involved in having the disks little bit bigger on this setup? is it a simple case of having the seat carriers modified a little bit more ?

323 is a standard size disc, the next one up from that readily available is the 345. You could have the 345mm machied to a smaller diameter but then it gets expensive every time you change your discs.
If you are on standard brakes the 323mm setup will be a big step up.

i see... so i guess the 323 is the best step for me i'll stick to it.

This is my dilemma, but then i'm in the same boat at present as the Alistair C has fitted machined down 314 discs on the car at present.

Depends how much machining the disc is as i get them cheap from GSF anyhow.

Anybody know how much machining costs are? Wab?
