    Rear brakes, Options?

I need to replace the rear discs ASAP.
Dealers quoted me £194 "each" for new ones. I know I know, never call the dealers, but I wanted a laugh only it back fired after I heard that price and nearly had a heartattack instead
Anyone got any BTDT's on a good quality aftermarket disc ?
I just want original size as I'm not in the market for a rear upgrade like the S6/S8 that Mark Halligan mastered.
TBH I'm happy with the way the car brakes after doing the front porsche upgrade.
    Thanks in advance

Oh, It'd be cool if they came in at under a £100 a pair too

    Rear Brakes

    Hello Jason

When I changed my rear discs recently I got the original rear discs and pads as I was told that you don't need a really good setup on the back as they are not used as much as the front ones.

Anyway I got my rear discs from the main Audi dealer near the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and if I remember it cost me less than £50 for the discs and I got the pads from VAG Parts.

If I remember rightly the chap behind the parts counter said that they are the same rear discs as on the current A4.

Not sure if this helps you any mate.

Jas, I also got my rear discs and pads from the local stealer, iirc the cost was about £125 all in. I only bought them as they come with a proper guarantee unlike some well known euro parts retailers.

Have you got RS2 rear discs on your coupe as that's what they quoted you for.

Standard S2 coupe rear discs retail at about £20 inc VAT each. Pads are around £40 a set.

As for upgrades I've got NuS4 rear callipers with 256x20 discs on my Avant and there is a noticable difference in stopping power.

Thanks guys, heart rate slowing down from 18000 bpm at last
              I even gave them the part number and size ( 895 615 601A, 245mm x 10mm, 5 x 112) which wasn't the RS2 ones.
Ben ! can we get a clone of you in each of the dealers around the country ?

@ Mak, getting Trev to get em through Volksparts mate.
You've been quiet lately, sent you an email the other week and tried to phone but no answer, guessing the house move is on then Speak soon mate.

              Thanks again guys.

Hi Jas.............does sound as if they quoted RS2 prices IIRC. You must be able to get them a lot cheaper

Yep, they certainly did really quite funny now

Just been back on the phone to them (just to let them know it's not funny to give people heartattacks on a Monday morning)

Guy said; "My parts system doesn't list an S2.

I said; "It's not listed as an S2, but as ACOQ audi coupe quattro"

Guy said; But you said it was an S2, not a coupe quattro"

I said; It is a coupe quattro, but the model that is the S2 is a version of the coupe quattro. The top of the range of the coupe quattro's no less.

                  Guy said; Hmmmm

I said; Try inputting my part number I've just given you into the ATP feature.

Guy said; How do you know this then ?

I said; erm, Cos I've used it

Quy said; Thats handy, I can see it now.

Quy said; so do you want me to order these then Sir?

I said; no, though my local specialists will prolly be on the phone later

Apparently a new young lad in the parts department, Mark knows the guys pretty well

I have just gone down the route of EBC red pads and EBC turbo groove discs on the rear and they seem pretty good to me.

standard S2 discs cost £14.57+vat from brakes international

i was thinkin of fitting the rear disks and calipers from a 20v UR which are 269x20 vented
dont know if this would be a viable upgrade for an S2 though

All sorted. New OEM discs (which are as MAK points out above, A4 rears discs too) and Pagid fast road pads (which apparently NLA for the S2 rears, but local supplier had some on his shelf )
Brakes are back to excellent again and I can now stop driving around like Miss Daisy
I do feel sorry for the RS2 guys having to pay a stealer £194 + vat for rear discs, thats just obscene
