Not quite a straight swap. 996 callipers were designed for a 28mm disk IIRC. The pad retaining pins have to be moved/filed. Pads have to be ground too, as they're too thick for the wider disks.SSComment

I'm doing this convertion too! so what disc would you guys recomend?Originally posted by 4WheelDrifterNot quite a straight swap. 996 callipers were designed for a 28mm disk IIRC. The pad retaining pins have to be moved/filed. Pads have to be ground too, as they're too thick for the wider disks.
I do have the original s2 hub's on for now, but i'm changing the hub's to rs2 this spring.
I got 996 monoblocks for front and original rs2 rear brakes/calippers.
all i want is better brakes, with as much original hardware as possible (custom carriers are ok)and rs2 discs (322x32or something better?!).
sorry for stealing your thread maRS2

hmm, thought of that, but then it all comes down to the handbrake solution. the rs2 rear calippers does'nt have a handbrake option in them, cause it's inside the disc. but on the s2 it's on the calipper - how to figure out that one without getting an addidtional calipper for handbrake (not approved in norway..)?Originally posted by ridgeracerhi !

just thought people got bored reading about the cayenne brakes ..Originally posted by rotoryboyWell dont keep it a secret
i got it approved as the requirements are that the handbrake will function if the footbrakes fail and that it can hold the car in a hill of 16 degrees. it doesnt have to be cable ( can be hydraulic ) but it must be separat.
