    (!) Beep On every bump

    Hi Guys and Dolls

My S2 has developed an annoying alarm. Every time I go over a speed hump or enter or exit a drive way, this sign (!) in RED and a BEEP comes up on the dash check system.

I have pumped the brake pedal 50 times b4 it gets hard, so hopefully the Bomb should be fine. I have changed the float in the power steering fluid container, made sure its full, I have checked for leaks, I just cant find anything wrong

What causes this alarm and what do you suggest I do to try and fault find it.

If it has not been done, change the fluid, it doesen't last forever.

Yup, both my coupe's do this over bumps or out of my drive if the fluid level is not brimmed in the brake reservoir.

I also get it in the mornings sometimes, about 100 meters from home, which is caused by low pressure in th bomb.

That would be my first guess as well, I have a slow leak on my power steering pump that means I need to top the reservioir up every three months or so, otherwise I get the very same thing.

                Thnks Guys
I have checked all the levels, so maybe there is a fault with the level meter.
I have tried filling the PS fluid above the mark. i'll do the same the brake fluid and see.

Fiddle with the caps on both reserviors whilst the engine is running. Mine had the warning light (!) after I had topped one of them up. It went away and never came back once I had fiddled with them a bit....

                  Good luck.

                  Cheers,

Yep - sometimes the switch in the hydraulic reservoir just gunges up over time. Try fiddling it or renewing it if you aren't losing fluid or carrying other hydraulic problems.

bit of carb cleaner tends to free up a sticking p/s reservoir float just where it pops through the cap, gets really gunked up over time. Also make sure the brake fluid is not over the little V mark, Ross's was beeping everytime he turned the car on, we took some flid out so it was bang on the max level and voila, no more beeps!
