    A6 quattro brake upgrade

    Hi chaps!
I realise this car is far from league of 'S' and 'RS' range of cars - forgive me. However, I do have a lovely 1991 ur quattro, so do appreciate a proper car!
Anyway, My a6 - this is a 2.8 quattro and has just had new 18" wheels added. This opens avenues for brake disc enlargement, as the existing brakes are pretty poor! (I have already changed to Brembo Max discs and green stuff pads - not any difference really)
Is any one ouy there aware of a way of utilising A8 brake components?
    Any ideas welcome.

    Thanks

Well the tried and tested off the shelf route for the S2 is to use the A8 disc, an RS2 caliper bracket and Porsche/ RS2 / Big Red Calipers, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about whether this would line up properly with your A6 - what year is your car, that might help other people give you the right advice...

More information required as stated above.
Porsche 996 calipers work well with A8 discs, but do you want Porsche calipers or just the A8 / S8 brakes
Pastures16 has some S8 calipers at the moment IIRC.

        Hi!

        Be careful here!
Got a funny feeling the A6 uses a different hub offset so the A8 discs would be unsuitable. They maybe an alternative but its an odd size. If the leg has the 94mm spacing and takes the Seat bracket, I guess some enterprising individual might be able to assist!

On the A6 u can use A8 disc, Audi TT Quattro caliper bracket and stock A6 caliper on the front, which is not as good as brembo but, it would definatley be good and relatively cheap upgrade.

              As I said, be careful!
I have just checked a brake catalogue and it shows the A6 as having brakes with a total height of 46mm NOT the 60mm of the A8!
That limits your disc choice considerably.

Thanks for advice - my a6 is '98 model.

The discs used are 287 (approx) x 25 - 4a0615125A. The caliper carrier is 4A0615125A.

Just looked on ETKA and noticed there are 2 different size discs on the A8 - 314 and 323. I suppose the sensible idea would be to change the caliper too, rather than keep my existing ones and changing the caliper carrirer?

BRY mentioned someone had some for sale.

I think I nned to research more!

                Cheers

As your standard disc is 25mm thick you can of course use the 314x25 A8 disc and use Porsche Mono's but you will need a custom bracket.
