    ABS Light

    gentleman

My avant has started with a tendancy for the abs light to come on after about 1/2 a mile ..
Thought it might be abs wheel sensors so took em out and cleaned them still the same checked the connection an abs computer and is fine pump charges when ignition is on and light automatically goes out on computer check any ideas or is it bry and the vagcom as the next step...
only standard brakes as well i wouldnt mind if it was a trick setup that had a problem..lmao it dont stop very well with abs working never mind without ..

Wiring to the sesnor may be on it's way out, Nush has this problem, now and then.

      suddenly interested bump

Was there a solution to this? Mine's started doing the same this weekend (ABS light goes off after a second or two after you turn the ignition, comes back on after half a mile or so) and it would be nice to get it sorted.

If I disconnect the battery, will it clear any stored ABS fault codes (if it does actually store them)?

For the record, mine's a late ABY coupe.

      Cheers,

      Ck.

I had this problem on my S2 just before I skidded into the back of a Mondeo and wrote it off!

Its not the ABS sensor, but the toothed wheel on the hub that causes the fault. There is a crack in it somewhere so once you get moving the gap spreads due to centrifugal force and causes an ABS fault. You may have noticed that before the light comes on you get a BOING sort of noise when you hit the brakes.

Get it fixed ASAP or else you might end up like me and lose your whole car because of it!
