  • Porsche 996 conversion finally DONE !!!

    Evenin everyone !

Yep, it's finally done. 3 hours work and it's all done !

Passenger side strut brake line connector took 45 mins to free up but otherwise, all went very smoothly. Just got panicked at the end during the first test drive coz both calipers seemed to be binding but it turned out to only be the brake disc guards hugging the Zimmermanns too closely...

I'm still bedding the pads/discs so I can't say if the braking power is up but the pedal feedback is much quicker. I need to get used to that...

The brake system was fully bled and to my satisfaction, the clutch pedal action is much smoother now, so I suppose that we bled the system correctly (thanx S2 forum threads ! )

Here's some pics of a job well done !

Very special thanx to Simon ( HPmuirt ) and to Bryan ( BRY ) for all your invaluable help and advices.

And thanx to all for your posts in the brake upgrade threads !!!

    Take care,

    David

Yup, it's in the post. 2 black Audi rings OOOO caliper decals.

Having Porsche written on the calipers will without doubt make the Avant fail it's Belgian MOT as the brake upgrade is not officially homologated for the S2 and even though it's OK on the RS2, the S2 is not an RS2 and that will be the end of the discussion as far as Belgian MOT is concerned... Without Porsche logo's but with Audi rings, I'll just bet that the calipers will be accepted since the controllers don't have a clue what is standard on an S2 and the Porsche logo won't give them a hint as well that the brakes aren't standard anymore.

Pathetic but what can I do...

                        Fingers crossed !
