Remember that you change the brake bias - that is the balance in braking power - between the front and the back when you move things around. If you put too much braking power in the back compared to the front, you risk locking up the rear wheels before the front wheels. Think about that and you will realize that you don't want this situation.

It's a mute point since the front brakes will not work at the back.

          No handbrake, different offset etc

IIRC Joern in Norway used RS2's in the back and added bigger rotors and seperate parking brakes. Anyway whoever it was had me marveling at the amount of equipment on that wheel.

Anyway, it can and moreover has been done. Just depends on how much work and money you want to put into it. Knowing that, I thought the warning was in order.

The best way ive seen so far for the back is they way mark H has done it by putting A3 Tdi discs with A8 calipers.

                    Rich,

they are the Tommy Arnberg mod using the A3 280x22mm front disc, full write up here
I have never had a problem with front to rear bias....yet, but I am using 322mm rotors up front.

                    Cheers,

                    Mark.

                      Mark,

Great write up. Yup, I took a page from Tommy as well but went with the RS4 rear calipers and the A8 rotors. It is too damned cold to do much work under the car now, but dry fitting everything would indicate that they fit pretty well together. Might need a shim or two in places.

Good news that - about the bias being OK. My fronts will only be 304 or 314 mm so they are smaller than yours but I think I will make it. Switching ends and doing spins in the grass is something I have done - and I don't enjoy it. Soiled some underwear that day

There is a picture of a turbo and plumbing in that series that is beautiful. Neatest damned plumbing of a turbo I've seen. Just aestheticly pleasing!! Is that Mark's beast?

Ive been hearing that the 911 GT3 calipers are the better ones to for cos they are stronger.

Will this work with the A8 disc combo?

and do you reckon £455 is a good price for a pair?

                              Greg,

Are those the yellow, 6 pot brakes? If so, the price sounds fab. I am seeing prices twice that much.

If they are the 4 pot monoblocs, then I think they might be the same size as used on the 993TT (twin turbo). In that case, I think the price is good but not fab.
