    braided brake hose

hi gonna fit some braided brake hose as i have had a nasty experience with the copper brake line!Looked on demon tweeks and think that 3.5mm hose is the right stuff, and then do i just buy the correct male/female fittings and get them crimped on???As their is not a kit for audi s2.Also i want to use the braided hose to replace the copper pipe to the calliper, and also the rubber brake hose that is connect before the copper pipe?If that makes sense. As the rubber pipe can give and make the brakes feel spongey(I have been told!)So if i do away with this then it should all be copper/braided brake lines?Oh last thing with bigger brakes should you use dot5.1 fluid or dot4?
    many thanks

    Dean,

on brake fluid, read this thread

Hoses, the copper pipe should be used where you can since it is more rigid. The braided is suited to where it needs to flex.

I have AP's on mine with a set of goodridge hoses. I know others that have done 996 conversions have used OEM brake pipes to connect up so you may be able to buy most of it as OEM parts and then make up 1 braided hose from copper pipe on suspension strut to the brake caliper.

so copper piping would still be better than the braided hose?Just i had the copper pipe fixing on the rear of the calliper developed a small crack and then snap completely! And wanted to fit braided hose all the way from the copper pipe before the flexi rubber pipe.Bit lost lost with measurement of the brake pipe fittings.Does anyone know how the measurements are taken such as 3/8x24 or 1mmx10?

Its M10x1mm, You could use the RS2 OEM front pipe which goes from the caliper up around the back of the strut (doing away with that very short rubber hose around the strut) about 8 quid or so each from Vagparts. Then get 4x braided hoses made up for the other 2 on the front (to the wing) and the 2 rears. I got some made for 40quid IIRC.

Would both male/female fittings be m10x1?Also where are the measurements taken from, as i had a rough measurement and the male connector(To the rubber pipe)Threded part measured 3/8?
            many thanks

has anyone else made their brake lines up from the fitting supplied by demon tweeks.Just want to confirm that i should use 3.5mm i.d hose (Dash 3)And the fittings i can fit myself and no special tools are required. Also i shouldnt get any problems fitting braided hose instead of the rubber flexi pipe on the strut and the copper pipe to the calliper, and just having one length of braided hose?As it comes in 1 metre lengths!!!

Just ask Goodrich to make them up to your specs. Might cost a touch more but you will get what you want.
