    Brakes what to do.

    Hi Guys,

As you can tell I have spent a few bob on the car in the past month and there is one major major bit to do. The front calipers.

Now I am skint and probably will be for a short while so I am going to have to drive very carefully with the new power to stop myself from hitting things!!!!

What can I do to get the best from the calipers I have now while I save up to change the Calipers?

I have also noticed that there is a bit of a Seat Cupra Caliper thing going on at the moment. What is the price comparison on these to porsche jobbies and is the stopping power comparable?????

    Cheers

Plus custom carriers, suitable pads and brake lines... oh and bigger discs - as there is no real point in upgrading just the calipers when other stuff needs customised around them.

The tried and tested front upgrade route is RS2 carriers, A8 discs (314 or 323mm depending on your preference) and Porsche 996 monoblock calipers (or the 'big reds' from a Porsche 968CS). Add to that a set of Porsche/Textar pads and the RS2 hardline hoses and you are there.

New brake parts from Audi UK are heavily discountable at the moment, so you can get a deal on carriers, discs and hardlines. Sources like eBay and BRY can help you locate a decent set of 996 monos.

Whatever way you do it - don't expect much change out of £500 when its all done.

SO then. What can I do to get the best out of the G60's.

I currently have Zimmerman Discs, OE pads and some BFgoodrich lines to fit but onlyhave the part from the strut to the caliper.

What can I do to get the best from what I have got??

If you stay standard - Run cooling ducts from your front bumper to your caliper / disc.
Wab runs a Boxster 986 setup on his. I can supply these calipers if you want them.
If you decide on 996 calipers, I would recomend the SEAT bracket rather than the RS2 as it can be made to suit your application exactly.
