I use ATE Super Racing Blue fluid with my Mono's

It is a non-synthetic DOT-4 but rated as having a higher 'wet' boiling point than fully synthetic DOT-5 so shouldn't boil even on a track session. It is also much slower at absorbing moisture so should therefore be good for 2 - 3 years of use.

      Cheers n

ATE Super for me - I change my brake fluid every 12 months but I think every 24 months is considered absoloutely fine with most fluids (depends on how hygroscopic they are)?

it is ATE SUPER BLUE .... not ATE BLUE and it costs roughly £10 per bottle (1 litre)

got there in the end!!! ... and yes you have to flush out your old fluid ... so 2 bottles for me ...

I hope this helps others clarify

The other added benefit to using Ate Super Blue, is they also have Ate 200 which is the same except it is amber in color. So in two years when you do you next flush, you can tell when all the old fluid is flushed out at a particular wheel.

Changing brake fluid is relatively easy - I use a Gunsons Eazibleed (cheap, from Halfrauds, allows you do to it on your own, uses the pressure of your spare tyre to push the fluid through). Get about 2litres of new fluid to do a full fluid change. Start with the right rear caplier, then left rear, then left front, then right front. (if you have multi-pot calipers with bleed valves on both sides, do the outside one first, then the inside one)

Pull through enough fluid through each caliper until the fluid is completely clear and completely free of bubbles and other gunk.

You in theory should also do the clutch bleed valve, but, frankly, don't, it's not worth the pain, swearing budget and the loss of about 5 years of your life from the increase in stress it causes!

No, you should do them both at once, when you shut the first nipple it can allow trapped bubbles to move back and forth, it is much better to open them both and bleed them together.
