well, i sued this post as a guide to which brake fluid i should use.
I got my car booked in today, but didnt have time to get fluid. Last minute I rushed around.
I tried halfords, and 4 motor stores. NONE sell good fluid. All non branded, or halfrods brand and everyone saying "they all the same, all dot 4 is the same" WTF!
Why does companys spend millions of squid in research then u moron!
Anyway, i got some "bobs special brake mix almost DOT 4" stuff to put in untill i find something better

I run Motul RBF 600. I change it every 9-12 months. The car runs rather hard though
Here are some boiling points for different fluids.
Boiling Points Dry Wet
AP Racing 550 531 261
AP Racing 600 567 378
Castrol SRF 590 518
Motul Racing 600 585 421
Ate Super Blue/ 200 536 392
Motul RBF 600 594 421
I choose the RBF 600 since its pretty "cheap" and is one of the best ones out there. Only downside is that you have to change at least every 18 months but you should do that with any brake fluid imho since all of us probably are using our cars much harder than the averege joe.

Hi.Originally posted by Chris5044hi all ... was wondering whats best to use for my car?
Im fitting new caliper.......
I currently have dot 4 .... is that good? or could I use something better?
When I needed to replace fluid brake on my rs2 fro first time, I was very suspicious about some brands here in Portugal, may questions etc etc... after reading that not always a Hight DOT means better brake fluid, I decided to go to Porsche and get their usual oil. Its DOT 4 to, but after many kms and 2 years, it keeps an excelent boiling resisting point - a test that my local service mechanic usualy makes with a gizmo.Last edited by RS2.pt; 25 July 2006, 14:37.Comment

I just used the Halfords DOT 4 for ESP cars which seems fine now that I have bled the rear brakes....
